Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance is happy to announce an international OPEN CALL for participation in DCL – DANCE COMMUNICATION LAB, which we are organizing within the frame of the Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery project co-financed by the Creative Europe. 

 

DCL – Dance communication Lab is a short-term exchange formula between dancers, where the main aim is that 6 professional dancers, coming from the above-mentioned partner countries get to know each other through improvisation, which is the most distinctive process of creation in contemporary dance.
 

The 2 day-long Dance Communication Lab will take place in the frame of Dance Week Festival in Zagreb and will be led by a renown choreographer Matjaž Farič, who shaped the DCL as laboratory for initiating future artistic collaborations . The process will result in project presentation on the 2nd day in the evening. The final presentation will take place in Zagreb Dance Center on June 7th at 20:00. The presentation is open to public.
 

The Dance communication Lab is organized as a part of the Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery a Creative Europe project (2023-2026) created by Central Europe Dance Theatre – CEDT (Hungary), Bunker (Slovenia), Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance – HIPP (Croatia), Krakow Dance Theatre – Krakowski Teatr Tańca (Poland), M Studio (Romania) and Vitlycke – CPA (Sweden) to foster local development of the contemporary dance fields. 

 

When is DCL happening? 

June 5th 2024 – arrival of participants 

June 6th – DCL process  

June 7th – DCL process and presentation in the evening 

June 8th – departure

Zagreb, Croatia (Dance Week Festival) 

Venue: Zagreb Dance Center 

 

Who is DCL for? 

• for dance professionals (dancers, choreographers) from partner countries: Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Romania and Sweden 

• we are looking for professional dance artists with stage experiences. The lab will be a creative meeting of independent artists who will share their experience, ways of acting and creative tools. 

 

 

What we offer? 

The organizer (HIPP) will cover: 

• accomodation for three nights  

• per diems (in the amount of 25 EUR per day for three days, 75 EUR in total) 

The Beyond Front@ project national partner from your country will cover: 

• travel costs 

• fee (150 EUR gross)

• The selected participants will be notified by the May 6th 2024
