The Dance Communication Lab, Budapest, organized by Central Europe Dance Theatre will take place from November 15th to 17th, 2023, as part of the annual Sissi Autumn Dance Week (SŐT7) at the Bethlen Square Theater.
The Dance Communication Lab is a short-term exchange program for dancers aimed at enabling six professional dancers from European partner countries to get to know each other through improvisation, which is one of the most characteristic processes in contemporary dance creation. The two-day research project is mentored by Csilla Nagy, a Hungarian dancer-choreographer. The focus of the DCL is the embodiment of imagination.
Key elements of the work include intention and action/operation – exploring what the dancers’ actions cause in the performance space and how it affects them. This imaginative process culminates in a short performance.
The goal of the Dance Communication Lab is to bridge the gap between dancers from different countries and to provide them with significant experiences that will support their careers on the international dance scene.
The Dance Communication Lab will conclude with a public improvised performance, presented on 17th November, the closing day of Sissi Autumn Dance Week.
Participants: Anni Erika Koivusalo (S), Ema Križič (SLO), Mariana Gavriciuc (RO), Mia Zalukar (HR), Dorottya Podmaniczky (HU), Sławomir Juszczak (PL)
