Dance Critic’s Residency program in Budapest

During the Sissi Autumn Dance Week, several events will take place as part of the Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery project, including a critical residency where young dance writers from six countries will work together with three mentors.

Guided by the mentors’ suggestions, they will spend time exchanging ideas. Their goal during the five-day laboratory work is not to formulate criticism but to initiate a dialogue on thinking about dance.

The Dance Critic’s Residency takes place in Budapest from 15th to 19th November 2023. The project’s artistic project manager is Márta Ladjánszki (representing the L1 Association), and it is led by Bunker in Ljubljana.

The mentors are Pia Brezavšček (Slovenia), Bush Hartshorn (United Kingdom), and Joanna Leśnierowska (Poland), while the mentees are Zuzanna Berendt (Poland), Märta Jungerfelt (Sweden), Léna Megyeri (Hungary), Sunčica Sodar (Croatia), Emese Szabó (Romania), and Metod Zupan (Slovenia).
