Krakow Dance Theatre announces an international open call for participation in the dance showcase programme “Rollercoaster. Collectors of Sensations”, organised in collaboration with the Centre for Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor – Cricoteka.

Rollercoaster. Collectors of sensations.
An original dance showcase programme organized by Krakow Dance Theatre and Cricoteka since 2018 and curated by Paweł Łyskawa and Eryk Makohon (leaders of KDT). Between February and October 2026, Cricoteka’s stage will host shows with diverse forms and aesthetics yet linked by a central theme: LOUDER.
Krakow Dance Theatre
One of the most active dance theatres in Krakow and in Poland. Under the banner of Krakow Dance Theatre dozens of events have been realised presenting and popularising contemporary dance and related arts. For many years the Theatre has developed three basic pillars of its activity: artistic, educational and promotional. The KDT has produced around thirty performances, both on stage and on the street, as well as those staged in non-theatrical spaces. It is difficult to clearly define the theatre’s aesthetics. Due to the architectural education of its creators, critics emphasise the frequent use of images, the plasticity of performances built with light and the architecture of body and movement. Krakow Dance Theatre regularly takes part in the most important artistic events and festivals in Poland and abroad. It invites choreographers from Poland and abroad. In recent years, alongside Eryk Makohon, performances have been created by Idan Cohen, Ayrin Ersoz, Anna Konjetzky. As part of its permanent educational activities, the Theatre runs Adept groups. Currently, around 130 dancers (professional and amateur) develop and train at the Theatre. International workshops are regularly organised with the participation of educators from all over the world. Krakow Dance Theatre cooperates with many institutions in Krakow, Poland and abroad, becoming an increasingly recognisable artistic brand.
The Centre for Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor Cricoteka
The combination of an old factory with a bold structure, museum, exhibition, educational and concert spaces make Cricoteka one of the most interesting places on the cultural map of Krakow. The Centre was established in 1980 and, in accordance with the will of this avant-garde artist, crossing the borders not only of his generation, from the very beginning it served as a museum, archive, gallery and research centre. Cricoteka documented unique materials documenting the activities of the Cricot2 Theatre and its founder. Previously, Cricoteka operated in four different locations, and officially opened its new headquarters at ul. Nadwiślańska in Krakow’s Podgórze district in 2014. It was built on the premises of the historic Podgórze Power Plant.

“Louder!” is the slogan of the upcoming edition. It highlights the social and political power of choreography. We will explore what dance speaks about most loudly and how it responds to the tensions of contemporary times.
